Non-profit · Est. in the Scenic City
We organize orienteering events across the city and surrounding wilderness — from urban sprint maps to backcountry navigation and multi-sport adventure races.
Three ways to explore the outdoors through navigation.
Urban orienteering brings the sport into the heart of Chattanooga. Participants race through city streets, parks, and public spaces using detailed sprint maps to find checkpoints in the fastest time possible.
Head into the forests and hills around Chattanooga for classic orienteering. Using topographic maps and a compass, navigators find control points across rugged terrain — from Lookout Mountain to the Cherokee National Forest.
Adventure racing is the ultimate test of endurance and navigation. Teams travel through the landscape by foot, bike, and boat — using only a map and compass to find checkpoints across a course that can last from a few hours to several days.
Promoting navigation sports in the Scenic City since day one.
Chattanooga Orienteering is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the sport of orienteering and adventure racing throughout the greater Chattanooga area. We believe that navigation is a life skill — one that builds confidence, fitness, and a deeper connection to the outdoors.
Whether you are a seasoned competitor or have never held a compass, we have events and courses designed for you. Our volunteers work year-round to create maps, set courses, and host events that welcome participants of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds.
